Many students in special education benefit from tactile supports and sensory tools to help improve focus, reduce anxiety, and maintain attention during instruction. Mr. Strosser allows students to choose and print their own fidgets, which gives students ownership of their learning environment while also encouraging creativity, responsibility, and problem-solving skills.\r\n\r\nThe 3D printer is also used to create math manipulatives such as geometric solids, fraction models, number lines, rulers, coordinate grids, angle tools, and models for perimeter, area, and volume. These hands-on materials help students better understand abstract math concepts by making learning more visual and tactile. \r\nMany of my students are very curious about how the printer functions and are amazed that it can create things based on changes to simple shapes. They especially like it when their name is drawn, and they get to pick the next item to be printed. This has proven to be a useful tool for engagement and student participation.","fullyFundedDate":1768185668491,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-math-motivation-3d-printer-f/10007692/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Math & Motivation: 3D Printer for Special Education Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Strosser","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5268189"},{"teacherId":4310521,"projectId":10064140,"letterContent":"I wanted to send a huge thank you for the copies of Hatchet you donated to our classroom. We are currently using Brian's survival journey to dive into character analysis and learning how to cite evidence to prove how much he is changing throughout the story. It has been great to see the kids move past just \"reading a story\" to really deconstructing how Brian develops the mental toughness needed to survive.\r\n\r\nReading time in our classroom is pretty active right now. One of the students' favorite parts is the Matchbook Summary project we're working on. For each chapter, they create these tiny, foldable matchbooks with a custom illustration on the front and a quote on the inside. It's been a fantastic way to get them excited about the skill of summarizing, and they are really proud of the collection they are building.\r\n\r\nThe impact has been especially noticeable for some of my more reluctant readers who are finally feeling a real connection to a protagonist. Seeing them get genuinely curious about Brian's next move, and watching them hunt through the pages for evidence to support their arguments, is exactly what we hope for as teachers. Thank you again for providing these resources for our students; it has made a world of difference.","fullyFundedDate":1773866629996,"projectUrl":"project/help-equip-my-classroom-with-the-ultimat/10064140/","projectTitle":"Help Equip My Classroom with the Ultimate Survival Tool: Books","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. T","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4310521_orig.png?crop=398,398,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1628646232248","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4310521"},{"teacherId":8052618,"projectId":10017369,"letterContent":"Thank you for providing students with lockers. With clearly labeled stacking trays/bins, students know exactly where to pick up and return materials. This has helped:\r\n\r\nReduce downtime—students quickly grab what they need without waiting or asking\r\nKeep materials organized—assignments, calculators, and task cards are easy to sort and access\r\nSupport student independence—students take responsibility for managing their own materials\r\nMinimize distractions—less movement and confusion means a smoother start to lessons.\r\nBuzzers have been a great tool for building energy, engagement, and teamwork in my classroom.\r\n\r\nOne memorable moment was during a review game before an SBAC-style assessment. I divided students into teams and used buzzers for answering questions. The impact was immediate—students were excited, focused, and eager to participate.\r\n\r\nBuzzers helped:\r\n\r\nIncreased engagement – Even students who are usually quiet were paying close attention, ready to buzz in\r\nPromoted teamwork – Teams quickly learned to discuss strategies before buzzing, making sure they had the correct answer\r\nEncouraged accountability – Students realized they needed to be confident before buzzing, not just fast\r\nMade review fun and interactive – It turned practice into a game while still reinforcing key math skills\r\n\r\nIn one instance, a team paused for a few seconds before buzzing, quickly whispering their reasoning to each other. When they answered correctly, they were able to explain their thinking clearly, showing both collaboration and understanding.\r\n\r\nOverall, buzzers transformed review sessions into high-energy, collaborative learning experiences where students practiced critical thinking, communication, and quick decision-making—all while enjoying the process.","fullyFundedDate":1768181398037,"projectUrl":"project/5-houses-1-team-project/10005904/","projectTitle":"5 Houses 1 Team Project","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. A or Maya","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9376867"},{"teacherId":8115145,"projectId":10008140,"letterContent":"Thank you very much for your generosity. Pens are not allowed as it can be very confusing and messy to not be able to erase a mistake. Seeing their eyes light up as they unpacked the specialized gear, knowing it was brand new and theirs to use, was truly unforgettable. It made the upcoming season feel incredibly \"real\" to them.\r\n\r\nSafety, Spirit, and Success\r\nWe are currently integrating the new hardware—the bolts, leg tips, and specific color guard tape—to refurbish our existing equipment. This has turned into an invaluable lesson on maintenance and collective responsibility, as students work together to ensure every piece of gear is weighted correctly, balanced, and perfectly safe to spin. With the Las Vegas heat already rising, the new fans have become our absolute \"MVP\" during grueling afternoon practices. These fans are not a luxury; they are a vital safety resource that keeps our athletes cool, hydrated, and focused so they can transform their physical effort into unified artistry.\r\n\r\nThe Next Step: From Practice to Performance\r\nAs we prepare to move into our intensive competition season, the new tablet you provided will become our essential coaching and analysis tool. After each full run-through of our show, video footage is posted for the team to review. They will use the tablet to analyze their synchronization, critique their individual transitions, and review the judges' dynamic commentary in real-time. This ability to see themselves objectively is the crucial next step in their artistic and technical growth. It allows them to collaborate on immediate fixes and build the profound confidence they need to step onto the floor.
