The STEM portion of the lesson was really neat to see. They liked being able to learn how to throw and kick and practiced their accuracy first, then got to use their math and science to see if they could create a mechanism to help them be more accurate at either passing or scoring a ball depending on the sport we were playing. They found that pool noodles, while very fun, have no function when trying to improve passing in volleyball, but does, help visually to help with aim for accuracy. My hydroponics tower is thriving thanks to the pH meter and vitamins purchased with this project. My students love to pick lettuce right off the tower and eat it in class. We haven't quite figured out why the stems can be a little bitter, but the leaves are nice and crunchy. \r\nThey absolutely love the squishies for incentives and work really hard for them. They're really small at just a little over an inch, but my students love them all the same. If anything, it makes it even easier for them to be discrete when using them in class, so they're not a distraction. The Ninja Hacks books are amazing as well too. The fruit snacks have also been especially helpful in the afternoon when everyone is starting to get a little tired and needs a small boost to make it through the rest of our day.\r\n\r\nHaving snacks readily available has been such a help for students who come to school hungry, arrive after breakfast has ended, or simply get hungry again as the day goes on. Our lunch is early, so having something available later in the day can make a big difference. When a student is hungry, it can be very difficult for them to focus on reading, math, or the activity in front of them. Now, I can offer them a quick snack and help them get back to learning.\r\n\r\nOne of the things I appreciate most about this project is simply knowing that when one of my students tells me, \"I'm hungry,\" I have something I can give them.
