These tools chosen are to help my students to have a comfortable calm down space to regulate their emotions. The soft or spikey cushions, and bean bag chairs are alternative seating choices to help calm and focus the students. This will serve a a break area or the chill zone. Typically students with special needs have difficulties coping with routine changes or their surroundings. Some students will need to take sensory breaks, squeezing different textured items like a spikey ball or something squishy is also an mechanism to calm and help students cope with emotions.
