All of our students need to feel safe and valued in their learning environment to thrive. My students need to feel a sense of warmth and belongingness. Creating inviting library nooks and carpeted learning spaces where students can interact with books and peers supports building a classroom community that takes learning seriously. We need warm, inviting learning spaces that promote collaborative thinking and creativity while being safe. Having a vacuum in the classroom will help teachers who hesitate to open up those spaces do just that. Having a vacuum in the classroom will also eliminate any extra work for our custodians. They can continue to work hard at keeping our campus safe and healthy, especially during this pandemic.
