Unboxing the new supplies felt like a celebration, and their faces lit up seeing the fresh art materials and yummy snacks. Having these resources readily available has already made a world of difference in keeping our classroom energized, focused, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nWe immediately put the colored paper to good use in our art center and used the watercolor paper to begin a new design project. Looking ahead, we plan to use the remaining art supplies for our upcoming October art projects, where students will get to create fall-themed artwork and display their creativity around the classroom. With materials provided, we have been able to accomplish many things! The carpet we received provided a more spacious and comfortable place for whole group learning to take place. When the students walked in and saw the new carpet they were full of excitement and simply could not wait to get called over for morning meeting! The carpet has even served as a classroom management tool which serves our classroom routines as a whole! New prizes were exciting to them as well. Having sensory and building opportunities with legos added a new learning center opportunity. One of the biggest things I brought home from that experience was an even stronger desire to help our students see how big and fascinating their world is, and to help them understand that they have a place in it.\r\n\r\nThese materials will help me bring that experience into our enrichment classroom. The maps, books, journals, recording tools, and other supplies will become part of projects where students explore Hawaiʻi, learn about other places and cultures, investigate real-world questions, and share what they discover. I especially love that we will have resources that connect students to our own Hawaiian moʻolelo and history while also encouraging them to look beyond our islands and learn about the wider world.\r\n\r\nMy hope is that enrichment inspires students to stay curious, ask questions, care about people and places beyond themselves, and see themselves as active global citizens who can make a difference.\r\n\r\nIt means even more that our own families came together to make this project possible.
