The students in my classroom have various disabilities that impair their learning and growth. These students learn best with real experiences they can understand through their senses of touch, smell, hearing, and vision. With these sensory toys the students can experience the world around them and learn cause and effect, problem solving skills, and engagement. The sensory toys will also facilitate their fine motor skills which will be help with writing skills in later years. The math HELDS standards for preschool students can be incorporated through kinetic sand and water beads. Measuring, analysis of data, and counting with these items will help them understand concepts needed for kindergarten. My students will also have these sensory toys of discovery to help facilitate with foundational skill for learning for later years.
