Percy Jackson fits the reluctant hero profile perfectly, and students are engaged by his adventures. Rather than simply participating in movement-based tasks, students are now beginning to understand how their bodies respond to different types of exercise. Real-time heart rate tracking has been especially useful during cardio units, with students learning to pace themselves in order to stay within target zones. This awareness has improved not just performance, but also motivation—students are eager to meet personal benchmarks like daily step goals or active minutes. It's created a culture of curiosity and accountability, where data serves as both a motivator and a learning tool.\r\n\r\nOne of my students had always struggled with feeling successful in PE due to asthma and lower endurance compared to his peers. When he tried out the Fitbit Charge 6, he became fascinated by the heart rate data and quickly realized that he could stay active without pushing himself to the point of discomfort. He began setting small, achievable goals—like maintaining a steady heart rate during warmups or slowly increasing his step count week by week. His confidence grew, and he even started initiating conversations with classmates about their own progress. Watching him shift from anxious to empowered has been one of the most rewarding parts of this project so far, and it speaks to the potential this technology has to transform how students see themselves as capable and engaged participants in their own wellness journeys.","fullyFundedDate":1746699636462,"projectUrl":"project/fitbit-in-motion-empowering-students-th/9110834/","projectTitle":"Fitbit in Motion: Empowering Students Through Smart Fitness","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Slaton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2160956_orig.jpg?crop=717,717,x0,y305&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1606838207179","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2160956"},{"teacherId":2160956,"projectId":9145496,"letterContent":"We are incredibly grateful for your generous support of our classroom snack project.
