With these instruments, students will learn the basics of playing simple melodies and chords on guitar beginning in the 3rd grade. Currently, there is no curriculum or instruments for students to learn guitar in the district. Whether students continue to pursue the guitar to the next level or or simply left with the ability to strum along at a social gathering, this is a skill they'll keep with them for the rest of their lives! Guitar is one of the most popular instruments in our society and I believe every student in the 3rd grade should have the opportunity to learn the basics of the instrument.
