We go through a box of oatmeal every month, and constantly need to restock the tea supply. Its the difference between hungry, agitated, and inefficient and happy and hard working kids. These items make students feel safe and welcome, which leads to great learning conditions!\r\n\r\nIn the winter months, they love drinking our hot tea while they draw and paint. At the beginning of this year, when I showed them our corner of goodies, everyone's faces lit up. Immediately, two kids began making themselves some oatmeal. At the moment, my Illustration class is working on painting their color wheels; learning to make neat, clean and proper strokes; while learning about the different colors on the wheel and how they compare and contrast to one another while enjoying tea and oatmeal!
