Distance learning. Virtual learning. Whatever the terminology being used to describe education in a pandemic world doesn't make it easier for the students or the teachers to learn and educate. Having little to no time to prepare for such endeavors and having little to no resources to get a home work space set up has been a challenge. I have to use the kitchen counter as my work station. The counter is too high to sit down and too low to stand up in front of. My back and neck are constantly being strained while trying to Zoom with my students, which is causing migraines and low back pain. An ergonomic, adjustable, stand up desk will greatly enhance my ability to interact with my Physiology and biology students while helping me maintain proper posture and flexibility. This will also be most useful in my classroom when we go back to school, as I do not have a desk, only a table. The added monitor will make the flow of class run smoother and be more efficient since everything I do for my students is through me sharing my screen to them. I have multiple tabs and screens open during each class that I need to jump between to ensure my students are getting the best understanding of Physio, Anatomy, & Biology I can give them online. I lose valuable time clicking through and trying to find the tabs or screens I need using just my laptop while also having their Zoom pictures and chat open as well. Having the second monitor that can house the additional tabs and screens I need during class will cut down on wasted minutes of hunting, sharing and minimizing multiple tabs. This will also transition nicely into my classroom.
