My current laptop I have been using at home has run its course and overheats when many tabs are open and when the computer has been in use for an hour. My laptop is essential in being able to teach remotely from home and hosting my daily zoom classes with my students. As a resource specialist, I have to know the curriculum from every other subject including STEM and be able to learn new material very often and apply it to lesson plans. With a new laptop, I will be able to enhance my curriculum with more usage of sites and be able to have a controlled Zoom meeting with students without having technological difficulties. When complex topics are being taught, the last thing I want is for my computer to take me out during a pivotal learning moment. I have been frustrated with how my laptop will overheat and turn off during meetings, classes, and even one on one meetings with students. Meeting with my students online and with a working computer is essential in delivering consistent and direct support to my students. I cannot emphasize enough how frustrating it is to work with an outdated computer for hours on end.
