This includes providing psychoeducation on topics such as stress management, as well as life skills like organization, time management, and balancing responsibilities.\r\nHowever, it can be challenging for participants to apply these strategies when they are unable to take materials home for reinforcement. Even something as simple as access to printer ink allows me to distribute essential resources to the teens in the program. These materials help them review key concepts independently and share helpful information with their families.\r\nAdditionally, the availability of color ink and laminating sheets has made it possible to create more engaging and durable tools for use at home with their children. For example, I am able to provide visual aids such as star breathing techniques to help children regulate their emotions. The use of color makes these handouts more user-friendly and appealing, while lamination ensures they last over time. Without your support, it would be much more difficult to provide teens in the program with the information and tools they need.","fullyFundedDate":1757349423582,"projectUrl":"project/print-the-path-to-learning/9408361/","projectTitle":"Print the Path to Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Barrett-Torres","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4295906_orig.jpg?crop=1280,1280,x0,y477&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1615005894748","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4295906"},{"teacherId":4295906,"projectId":9663782,"letterContent":"Teen parents often struggle with poor attendance. They are also trying to figure out how to balance parenting responsibilities, school responsibilities and financial responsibilities. On top of that they are facing and learning to cope with the typical issues other students their age are facing. These significant responsibilities and challenges often result in feeling overwhelmed and depleted. This negatively impacts levels of motivation, feelings of depression and energy levels. This in turn negatively impacts attendance and graduation rates.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generous donations, we were able to order phone chargers, a tablet, arts and crafts materials, and an air pod as incentives for good attendance. Attendance was monitored throughout the school year and students with good attendance were able to earn one of these items. These incentives gave already stressed and overwhelmed students something extra to look forward to and a sense of accomplishment. These donations also communicate to these students that there are people in the community that care about them. This helps booster their self-esteem and belief in themselves that they are worthy and that there are people in their corner rooting for them. Watching these young performers, stagehands, and designers take pride in their craft has been nothing short of inspiring. For many, this production was their first encounter with the arts, offering a creative sanctuary and a vital outlet for self-expression that will impact their lives long after the final bow.\r\n\r\nThis production has become a powerful heartbeat for our entire school community. It has bridged gaps between grade levels and brought faculty and neighbors together to celebrate something truly special. By reviving the theatrical tradition at Harding, you haven't just supported a production—you've helped rebuild a sense of collective pride and belonging that resonates through our hallways. With the right tools now available, students are developing essential skills such as hand-eye coordination, agility, and strategic thinking in a fun and engaging way. The smiles, laughter, and determination I saw on the court today are proof of the impact this gift is making.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, the equipment is opening doors for opportunities beyond the classroom. Several students have already expressed interest in forming a badminton club, giving them a chance to explore the sport more deeply, build leadership skills, and connect with peers in a positive, structured environment.
