Interactive notebooks teach students to organize and synthesize their thoughts. Students on the 9th grade team will utilize interactive notebooks as a means to create a process for them to organize their thinking.
As students build their portfolio, it will allow me to track their progress and growth over the entire year. These notebooks will not only be used to take notes in a hands-on way but will also serve as a place to reflect on their learning and experiences in the classroom.
With these supplies, my students will be able to create their own colorful, engaging resource that they can refer back to for other activities, assignments, study sessions, and even future math courses. The bright colored paper will allow their notebooks to come to life and the graphing post-its will be used during our graphing unit and can easily be kept inside their notebooks without being lost. A classroom set of scissors will help us create foldables that we will glue inside these notebooks to take meaningful notes. My students will have the opportunity to take pride in their creations and take ownership of their learning.
