Having the modern and original text while reading Shakespeare helps students to connect with the text and draw connections with Shakespearian language. My students struggle and are apprehensive when reading in class; while reading Shakespearian texts, having a modern translation helps to quell student anxiety. These books will help them clear that first hurdle. My students are most engaged when they have the opportunity to perform in class; providing props for them to use as they read will help solidify an understanding of the play's actions that they typically do not get through standard, seated, reading. Having tangible items to help them understand the characters and their motivations will help them connect with the text and create an understanding of what is happening and how characters are interacting with one another. The visual and kinetic stimulation will help engage students with the text.
