These moments matter, and they are happening because of your kindness.\r\n\r\nYour gift also helps our classroom run more smoothly — keeping materials organized, protecting the resources we use again and again, and allowing me to spend more time teaching and connecting with my students. Some of you already know our students and the warm, busy, sometimes wonderfully wiggly atmosphere we have each day. You also know that the right tools can make all the difference. Because of you, our space feels even more welcoming, engaging, and supportive for every learner who walks through the door.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes arrived, it instantly felt like a celebration. My students spotted them and started asking, \"Are those ours?\" before I could even set them down. The wobble stools were tried out within minutes and quickly became the most popular seats in the room. One student said, \"This helps my body listen better,\" which made me smile because that is exactly what we hope for. A little movement truly goes a long way.\r\n\r\nThe sensory tools and fidgets have already helped so much with focus and regulation. Instead of extra wandering or frustration, students now have something to hold or use that helps them reset and get back to learning. Our classroom still has energy, because that is just who we are, but it is a calmer, more productive kind of energy. Less chaos, more concentration. I call that a teacher win.\r\n\r\nOur new books, The Wild Robot and The One and Only Bob, have been instant favorites. Students who are usually hesitant about reading were eager to join small groups and talk about the characters. We have been working on comprehension, discussions, and creative responses, and the engagement has been incredible. You could say these stories really unleashed their love for reading. Bob would probably wag his tail at that one.\r\n\r\nThe games and craft supplies have brought just as much joy. UNO has turned into a serious event in our room. I have never seen such intense strategy over a deck of cards. While they think they are just playing, they are actually practicing turn taking, problem solving, and social skills. It is learning in disguise, which might be my favorite kind. Our cards are well loved. The art materials have also supported fine motor skills and given students a chance to create and express themselves with confidence.\r\n\r\nNext, we are using these resources to build more small group stations and hands on centers that match our students' needs. The books will anchor our literacy groups, the sensory tools will support regulation breaks, and the games and crafts will continue to strengthen social and motor skills. These materials are now part of our daily routine, not just extras on a shelf.\r\n\r\nThank you for continuing to invest in our class and in our kids. Your support truly sticks with us, just like the Velcro dots we use for everything. Because of you, our students feel successful, capable, and excited to learn each day. Before this project was funded, many of our classroom headphones were broken and without them, it was hard for students to concentrate or access audio-based instruction.\r\nWhen I first introduced the new headphones, my students were thrilled! Some of my English Language Learners said they could finally hear every sound and word during lessons, which has helped boost both their confidence and their listening skills. Seeing students light up when they can fully participate in their learning is a moment I will always treasure.\r\nBecause of your support, I have been able to differentiate instruction more effectively and ensure each child can engage independently and without distraction. This has made a real impact on their progress, especially for those who rely heavily on auditory input to build foundational reading skills.","fullyFundedDate":1764616106444,"projectUrl":"project/helping-all-students-hear-focus-and-le/9920326/","projectTitle":"Helping All Students Hear, Focus, and Learn","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mejia Romero","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8220825_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1733424466025","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8220825"},{"teacherId":8220825,"projectId":9751167,"letterContent":"My students have been using the highlighters every day during our phonics block to highlight words in short passages. They couldn't wait to try them out and were eager to show me the words they found in their passages. Something so simple made reading feel more fun and engaging, and it motivated them to stay focused during learning time.\r\nThanks to you, my students are becoming more active readers who take ownership of their learning. Our students are actively using these instruments during music class to learn foundational guitar technique, ensemble skills, and traditional mariachi rhythms. One especially meaningful moment occurred during our first full ensemble rehearsal, when students worked together to play a simple folk song, Árboles de la Barranca while listening closely to one another and adjusting their timing as a group. It was powerful to see their confidence grow as they realized they were creating authentic mariachi music together.\r\n\r\nWhen the instruments first arrived, the excitement in the room was immediate. Many students had never held a guitar before, and seeing the guitarrón sparked lots of curious questions and wide smiles. Some students shared personal connections to mariachi music they had heard at family celebrations, while others were discovering the style for the very first time. Your support gave them a tangible sense that their musical culture and curiosity are valued. Our next steps include expanding our repertoire, introducing basic singing alongside instrumental playing, and preparing a short mariachi performance for families and the school community. My students no longer have to wait for materials to be passed out or search through bags and bins to find what they need. Instead, everything is displayed clearly and stored in a way that even my youngest learners can understand. This supports their independence and helps them build strong habits for responsibility and self-management.\r\n\r\nThe mobile cart has made it especially easy to transition between activities.
