We've been using the writing boards in daily reading groups to practice phonics skills and interactive lessons — students love having their own space to brainstorm, draw, and share ideas quickly. The Polaroid film has been especially fun for documenting special classroom moments and student projects. Lastly, the pencils and zippered bags are used daily for project, learning games and daily work. \r\nThey were beyond excited to see the new materials! For many, it was their first time seeing a Polaroid camera in action — watching their photo develop in real time felt like magic. One student even said, \"This is the best day ever!\" Having snacks available has made such a difference in our classroom. My students are able to focus longer, stay energized, and feel cared for throughout the day.\r\n\r\nWe've been using the snacks to fuel our learning. It's been wonderful to see how something as simple as a healthy snack can give them the boost they need to participate and stay engaged. The snacks have also become a little classroom community moment—we gather together, share, and it brings a positive energy to our day.\r\n\r\nAs we continue with our lessons, these snacks are helping my students stay ready to learn and grow. This is creative play with added math, engineering and social skills! The weight of the magnetic blocks are teaching them how to balance their structures while building, and have combined them with the smaller blocks to add details like windows and stairs. They are working together to create tall buildings and comparing their height with what they've built.\r\n\r\nWe've also been researching different types of structures to build, castles, pools, mansions, apartment buildings, and hotels. They are learning more about the world around them and are using our neighborhood and community for examples to shape what they want to create and emulate. One of my students even created a cactus with asymmetrical arms!\r\n\r\nMy blocks center is always full, and they are learning to share, take turns, and ask for help from taller students to help them with their structures. The kids had so much fun learning about Chinese culture and the traditions that surround this holiday. They wore red to keep the dragon away and gave each other coins for good luck!\r\n\r\nThey had so much fun making snake hats and lanterns to participate in their way, and what the Year of the Snake means.
