What's been especially exciting is how our new classroom additions—floor cushions, lamps, and a speaker—have enhanced that experience. The flexible seating allows students to choose a comfortable spot where they can focus, which is huge for students who struggle with attention or sensory needs. The soft lighting from the lamps creates a calmer environment, reducing stress and helping students feel safe and ready to learn. The speaker has been a favorite as well—we use it for audiobooks, guided reading, and background music during independent work, which helps students stay engaged and improves comprehension.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who typically struggle to stay seated or focused have really responded positively to these changes. They are more willing to participate, stay on task longer, and take ownership of their learning space. Students who are easily overwhelmed have also benefited from the calmer, more flexible environment. Overall, these additions have made our classroom more inclusive, comfortable, and supportive for all learners, and I've already seen a noticeable difference in student engagement and productivity.","fullyFundedDate":1768513315107,"projectUrl":"project/where-calm-meets-confidence/10004114/","projectTitle":"Where Calm Meets Confidence","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Montes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10401062"},{"teacherId":9411428,"projectId":10004362,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your support of my 8th grade classroom. We've been using the new supplies every single day. The whiteboard markers, sticky notes, pencils, and erasers have helped students stay actively engaged during lessons, especially during small group work and quick check-for-understanding activities. One of my favorite moments was during a collaborative brainstorming activity where students used sticky notes to share their ideas—every student participated, even those who are usually hesitant to speak up. The simple addition of these materials has made our classroom more interactive and inclusive.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new supplies, their excitement was immediate and genuine. They were especially thrilled to have fresh pencils and colorful markers to use, and they took pride in helping organize and care for the materials like the broom, dustpan, and other classroom tools. Having snacks available has also been incredibly impactful—students are more focused and ready to learn when their basic needs are met, and it has created a more comfortable and supportive classroom environment.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue using these resources in ongoing projects that involve collaboration, writing, and problem-solving. We are currently working on group-based activities where students rotate through stations, using whiteboards and sticky notes to share ideas and reflect on their learning. These materials will continue to support their growth, helping them build confidence, stay organized, and fully participate in their education.
