The materials that I am requesting for my STEM students will be used to extend upon the renewable resource topics we will be discussing in class. We will be looking for ways that renewable resources, such as solar and wind power, can be utilized in a school setting. Since our school is a one-to-one school, there is a lot of laptops being charged throughout the day. Students will be constructing solar charging stations for these laptops that can be utilized throughout the day to charge laptops. We will look into the overall impact that using solar has on our school. By harnessing the power of the sun, students will be able to see how big of an impact a small change can have. This project is also a great opportunity for students to collaborate and share their expertise in various aspects of this project. Students will work together to construct not only the solar panel portion, but also build the charging stations and create a promotional video to introduce the project to the entire school.
