Adding this selection of books to our library will help fulfill the Clark County School District Policy P-6161 that states that: "The school library provides resources...that meet the needs of all learners..." ""The resources are diverse and inclusive, providing opportunities for all learners to recognize themselves as members of a global learning community." These books will give my students access to literature that covers a diversity of lifestyles to promote the understanding of and commitment to inclusiveness and respect for diversity in the learning community (CCSD Library Foundational Standard 2). The primary purpose of this project is to allow all students to see themselves reflected in our collection. I also hope to provide books that help students accept and welcome their LBGTQ peers as friends.
