The printer you helped to provide has served students by making learning materials - such as printed visuals/diagrams, guided notes, and resources more accessible and readily available. I am able to run off copies of my teacher key for my support staff so that they are able to meet with EL and IEP learners to provide informed support during large projects. Students are also able to access printed copies of class slides, making it easier to review key content during action period and proving especially useful for students who struggle to take notes during class. \r\n\r\nWhat my students and I appreciate most about these tools is how they make our classroom run smoother and empower autonomy and curiosity. The digital clock encourages students to better manage their class time and stay accountable and having a charging station in the classroom aids in removing students from their devices. Allowing student choice to recharge their devices during class has made them much more willing to unplug and stay present during hands-on math activities, discussions, and problem-solving tasks. \r\n\r\nStudents have had the opportunity to engage in field activities and jot their observations on the go with the provided clipboards. One standout classroom moment was watching students carefully assemble their first prototypes—measuring, cutting, and adjusting their designs in real time as they began to understand how small design decisions directly impact the final product. This project has helped bridge the gap between abstract computer-based design and real-world manufacturing in a meaningful and tangible way.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new materials, their excitement was immediate. Many were eager to begin experimenting. Seeing their digital work come to life sparked a deeper sense of ownership and pride in their designs. We have already used every single item for one project or another. This has helped us set up a cycle of learning a new craft, turning it into a fundraiser, and using the funds to buy new supplies so we are able to keep this club running for the entire year with new and exciting art to try!\r\nSo far, my students have used the items from this project to provide a reasonably priced face painting booth for our school's haunted house event, make personalized aprons for each member, fix rips in clothing using simple stitches, create scarves on knitting looms, and create many items out of clay. In particular, they have loved having a couch to sit on as crafting is supposed to be relaxing and cozy. For my math students, I have turned the couch and some beanbag chairs into a method of positive reinforcement for students participating with desired behaviors such as collaboration, helpfulness, not being on their phones, and more! This year's crop of students is pretty energetic compared to last year and I am a really new teacher so it's one of the areas I need the most growth in. This project has made a huge difference in this endeavor because it allowed me to make my classroom more engaging, comfortable and overall a positive learning environment for my students. \r\nThis project gave me the tools I needed to create a system of positive reinforcement for students who participate in the classroom with desired, productive behaviors. I now have a system where I can reward students who are acting as model citizens whether that is them being helpful, polite, uplifting to others, or simply not going on their phones. It had such an immediate effect because my most rambunctious kiddos thrive on rewards most of all and instantly wanted to participate in lessons to receive a reward. I have plans already to improve upon this system next semester as well! \r\nBeyond the positive reinforcement, it is so important to me to be able to provide snacks when students ask. I know I struggle to focus when I am hungry and the same is true for my students. Whether they forgot their lunch at home, usually skip lunch, or were just feeling extra hungry that day, I will always be eternally grateful for the resources to help my students out when they need a bite to eat.","fullyFundedDate":1758760438649,"projectUrl":"project/building-my-classroom-environment/9706331/","projectTitle":"Building My Classroom Environment","teacherDisplayName":"Mx. The arrival of these books has transformed our Friday afternoons into a much-anticipated \"Reading Day\" ritual. We dim the main lights, turn on twinkle lights for ambiance, and listen to the audiobook together while students relax, color, or follow along in their own physical copies. This setting has proven to be a fantastic way to conclude a busy week, allowing our students to decompress and enjoy a shared narrative experience. Furthermore, having a full set of physical copies is invaluable, as it allows any student who misses a session to check the book out and catch up, ensuring no one is left behind in the story.\r\n\r\nThe magic of Project Hail Mary is how perfectly it integrates literary skills with our core curriculum. Students aren't just practicing reading comprehension; they are seeing concepts we cover in class such as the scientific method, electromagnetism, radiation, velocity, and acceleration applied in a thrilling, high-stakes fictional context. The main protagonist, Ryland Grace, constantly uses these concepts to solve problems in the story, which reinforces the material in a memorable way. Seeing these abstract principles brought to life is a powerful lesson in scientific application.\r\n\r\nThe impact of this book has been overwhelmingly positive. The entire class is deeply invested in the story, and it is genuinely exciting to incorporate reading for pleasure into a science curriculum. I've already had students check out their copies to take home, only to return and tell me they kept reading past the assigned chapter because they were so hooked! Watching students get truly invested in a book—and seeing reading framed as a fun, rewarding activity rather than just an assignment—is one of the greatest joys of teaching. Because of your generosity, we successfully funded our project and have brought a new level of focus, structure, and positive reinforcement into our classroom!\r\n\r\nWe are already putting all the resources to use! The students immediately gravitated toward the new fidget tools. For many of my students, these quiet, tactile items have become an indispensable way to manage their energy and anxiety, allowing them to redirect their focus fully onto the lesson. It has dramatically improved their sustained attention during independent work periods.\r\n\r\nOur new classroom timer has also been a game changer. We used it during our transition from note taking to a group activity, and I watched as the visual countdown gave several students the exact structure they needed to finish their thoughts and move smoothly to the next task, reducing the stress that transitions often cause.\r\n\r\nThe motivational bracelets and stickers have created such a positive buzz. We use them to celebrate effort, not just perfection. Just this week, a student who typically struggles with task initiation earned a sticker for starting a difficult multi step assignment immediately. The sense of pride and ownership that simple acknowledgement provided was powerful.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students the tools they need to better understand themselves, manage their time, and take control of their learning.
