For my reluctant readers and visual learners, the stunning artwork serves as a vital bridge into the complex world-building of Hogwarts. Seeing the characters and settings beautifully rendered on the page has removed the intimidation factor of tackling a thick chapter book. It keeps students deeply engaged, aids in context clues, and significantly boosts their reading comprehension.\r\n\r\nBridging Home and School in Spanish\r\nHaving Spanish-language editions available has been a massive breakthrough for our English Language Learners. Students are now able to experience the joy of this iconic story in their native language, which validates their cultural identity while building crucial foundational literacy skills. Furthermore, these books are successfully bridging the gap between school and home, allowing Spanish-speaking parents and guardians to read alongside their children and share in the magic as a family.\r\n\r\nHonoring Heritage through the Hawaiian Language\r\nThe inclusion of Hawaiian translations has provided a profoundly unique and affirming experience for our classroom. Having a globally beloved story translated into an indigenous language honors students with Pacific Islander heritage and sparks rich classroom conversations about language preservation. It powerfully demonstrates to my students that every language and culture is worthy of carrying the world's most famous stories.\r\n\r\nA Culturally Inclusive Reading Community\r\nBecause of your generosity, the wizarding world in our classroom is no longer limited by reading level or a single language. You have provided multiple, inclusive entry points into a shared literary adventure. Students of diverse backgrounds are now eagerly discussing the same plot twists, comparing their different editions, and developing a genuine, lifelong love of reading together.","fullyFundedDate":1778536359522,"projectUrl":"project/the-magic-of-reading-across-cultures/10235709/","projectTitle":"The Magic of Reading Across Cultures","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kantzabedian","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8000474_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721971119132","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mskantzabedian"},{"teacherId":6398692,"projectId":10409676,"letterContent":"Thank you for helping make a difference in our classroom!\r\n\r\nYour generous donation of books is giving our second graders something much more valuable than just new stories, it is giving them opportunities to see themselves as readers, discover new worlds, build their vocabulary, and develop a lifelong love of reading.\r\n\r\nFor some of our students, having a book that they can choose, hold, reread, and share with a friend can make reading feel exciting and meaningful. We are using the new markers and drawing paper to give students more opportunities to explore color, line, and visual storytelling. One project has been especially meaningful: students are creating artwork that represents something about themselves, their families, or their experiences. Having quality paper and a wide variety of colors allows them to take their ideas further instead of having to worry about running out of materials or working on whatever paper happens to be available. The new storage bins and individual pouches are also helping students learn to take responsibility for our shared art supplies and independently choose the tools they need. This project is especially important because many of my students are eager to create but have not always had consistent access to quality art materials.\r\n\r\nThe students were immediately excited to see so many new colors and fresh supplies. They wanted to explore the markers right away and began talking about what they could create. For some students, simply having their own clean sheet of quality drawing paper made their artwork feel more important and special. It was wonderful to see students who can sometimes hesitate to begin an assignment become eager to put their ideas on paper.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to build on this enthusiasm by having students sketch their ideas, make thoughtful choices about color and line, and then add details that help communicate their story or message. We will also spend time discussing and celebrating each student's work so they can practice describing their artistic choices and appreciating the different perspectives of their classmates. The goal is not simply to make a picture, but to help students see themselves as capable artists and confident creators. With consistent access to these materials, I can continue giving students opportunities to practice, revise, experiment, and express themselves throughout the school year.","fullyFundedDate":1776373865303,"projectUrl":"project/the-art-access-initiative-tools-for-cre/10187809/","projectTitle":"The Art Access Initiative: Tools for Creative Expression","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bjerke","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp124814_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x13,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1572372260332","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/bjerke"},{"teacherId":6398692,"projectId":10297092,"letterContent":"Thank You!\r\n\r\nThank you so much for supporting my second grade classroom!
