When the boxes arrived with the new Galaxy Putty, stress balls, and pull-back cars, the word spread through the hallways like wildfire. The students were so eager to see what new rewards were available. Having these fresh, exciting choices has re-energized our entire PBIS system, giving students a renewed sense of purpose as they work to earn their 'Gotcha' points for our 4 core values and GLOs.\r\nThe reaction from the students was immediate and heartwarming. I watched a group of older students huddled around the new Galaxy Putty, debating which colors were the coolest, while the younger ones were thrilled to test out the speed of the pull-back cars. Because you provided such a variety of items, our students now have the power of choice. For some, that choice is a squishy stress ball to help them stay calm during a big test; for others, it's a car that represents a week of hard work and focus. \r\n\r\nThe impact of this project goes far beyond the library walls. These items are now traveling back to classrooms across the school, where the sensory tools are helping students regulate their energy and stay present during lessons. Your generosity didn't just restock our shelves—it gave our students a reason to stay excited about making good choices every single day. Chart paper helps students organize thinking, collaborate on shared goals, and display learning for the whole class. Clay and other tactile materials bring abstract ideas to life, build fine motor skills, and invite experimentation in art and STEM activities. Together these items support multiple learning styles, encourage teamwork, and give students ownership of their learning in ways that traditional worksheets cannot.\r\n\r\nYour gifts have immediate, visible impact: students work together to plan projects, model concepts with clay, and proudly display their learning on classroom charts. I'm writing to share how your generosity transforms learning every day in our classroom—and to invite your continued support for classroom furniture and supplies that make a real difference for our students.\r\n\r\nThanks to past donations, our room is more than chairs and desks: it's a flexible learning environment that meets students where they are. New furniture and classroom supplies create comfortable, focused learners by reducing physical discomfort so students can concentrate longer and participate more fully. They support different learning styles by offering choices like standing workspaces or floor seating, which increases engagement, motivation, and ownership of learning. Mobile tables, whiteboards, and accessible supply stations enable collaborative, hands-on work, letting students practice communication, problem solving, and teamwork in ways static classrooms cannot. Thoughtfully arranged spaces and sensory-friendly options also improve classroom management and inclusion, providing movement breaks or quieter areas for students who need them and creating a calmer environment where every learner can thrive.\r\n\r\nEvery dollar directly improves learning. For example, a set of wobble stools helps multiple students stay engaged during lessons, mobile tables allow several small groups to work simultaneously on collaborative projects, and a class supply kit provides art and STEM materials for weekly hands-on stations. If you would like to support a specific need, I would be happy to share a short wish list and budget or welcome you to visit and see the impact in person. Your investment helps create a classroom where students feel welcome, can move and collaborate, and are equipped with the tools they need to succeed.\r\n\r\nThank you for the meaningful role you play in our students' education. My second graders and I were so very excited to receive the microscopes. We have two microscopes in our classroom, but having a few more allows my students more opportunities to make amazing discoveries that will last a lifetime.\r\n The microscopes arrived just in time for our PBL (Project Based Learning) parent night. During parent night, students had to take their parents through three different stations and present what they had learned about plants. The stations were parts of a plant, seed dispersal, and microscopes. The most popular station was, of course, the microscopes. Student presentations were supposed to be 20-30 minutes tops, but there were parents that stayed for more than two hours. They were so amazed at the details they could see using the microscope. One parent was squeamishly afraid of spiders, but she was awe struck when she discovered that the spider was hairy and had eight eyes. She was the last one to leave that night. \r\n On top of our regular duties as classroom teachers, Honowai has started pre-academies. An academy is a thematic course of study that students choose as freshmen and continues on through high school. Each academy offers courses specific to their theme and are designed to help students have a more meaningful educational experience. \r\n My pre-academy class is entomology and once again, it helps to have a few more microscopes. My students are so excited. They have started bringing in things from home to look at under the microscopes. It's priceless to see the look on their faces when they discover something new. You have to see it to believe it. Hopefully you and I will help inspire students to be entomologists, forensic scientists, or even zookeepers. The possibilities are endless. \r\n Looking through a microscope has been an eye opening experience for my students, parents, and staff members. I can't thank you enough for helping ignite the spark of curiosity and the love of learning. Your kindness and generosity are truly appreciated. The fact that students enjoy the space is a great win for us. The items that you donated definitely had a role in that. \r\nI remember when I first introduced the earphones, many of them chose the listening station that week. When the students returned the following day, they chose to continue using the earphones in the listening station, again. The listening station is great for our younger students since they are still learning to read. The challenge of decoding words gets taken out so that they can just relax and enjoy stories while still following along with the words.\r\nI'm excited to see our recess library activities grow.
