All students want to succeed in school. In order to do that they need to be literate. After my students learn a specific phonics skill, they will use one of the 11 dog on a log books to practice their skills in a book. Each book is associated with the particular skill so that students have confidence when they read since they are familiar with the words. In math, the books will be used to help the students learn the math concepts in an engaging, real world setting. For example, if my student needs help in addition, together we will read Mission of Addition and discuss how addition is represented in that book.
