They love using the bright construction paper, markers, and butcher paper to create murals and maps that are now laminated and proudly displayed around our classroom. When they walk in and see their projects preserved and hanging alongside posters of leaders like Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Ella Fitzgerald, and Duke Ellington, they immediately feel a stronger connection to the history they're studying. Representation and creativity are working hand-in-hand to inspire them.\r\n\r\nOne student who often struggled to stay engaged has become one of the most enthusiastic contributors since we started using the reusable dry erase cards for group debates.
