There are three main categories of items in which I am requesting. One section for closing mathematical gaps, one section for strategies with reducing stress, anxiety and providing guidance on handling life problems, and another for providing materials to be better organized and structured for the students.
According to standardized tests and MAPS data, many students are still at a 3rd grade level in math. With this gap in mind, students often struggle with catching up with the many of their peers which further widens that gap. I am hoping to close that gap with the math games I requested.
In Nevada, we are the 51st in mental health and it shows in the classroom. I hope to provide the chess board to teach students critical thinking skills for thinking through consequences for actions they choose. Through reading the books requested I hope to use those to provide breaks from math and guidance on life choices. I also hope to use the tapestry, stress toys, and aromatherapy to provide students with strategies to help them focus on their mental health.
Lastly, the rest of the resources will be used to help me with organizing the materials provided and providing students with the ability to make their own notebooks for writing notes.
