Geometry requires a lot of visual aids in order to be better acquainted with the material. Due to my students coming from a low-income community, they are unable to attain these resources themselves. Most days, my students arrive with no pencils and other necessary stationary for a math class. Attempting to make Geometry more tangible and engaging, entices my students to have a more positive interaction with mathematics. Something that was once so abstract can come to live with the touch of their fingertips.
By donating to my project, you will be helping my students be able to learn Geometric Transformations (G.CO.A.2 and G.CO.A.4) with more ease and accessibility. They will each have their own individual whiteboard and whiteboard materials in order to maintain Covid regulations. Additionally, they will be working on a Unit group project where they individually work on transformations and then bring them together to create a mystery picture. In order for this project to be a success, I will need materials such as pencils, markers highlighters and whiteboard materials. Having individual materials will make geometry more kinesthetically friendly for my students. This project will help foster a better relationship between my students and and mathematics. Not only will they be pushed to think critically, but also think creatively.
