At the time of these photos, we had already diminished some of the original (massive) quantities of food, and quite a supply remains- I think enough to last most of the school year. It is difficult to fully capture the impact a gift like this has on our daily routine, but I want to share just how much your generosity means to my students and me.\r\n\r\nIn special education, we look at the whole child. Before we can effectively tackle algebra, reading comprehension, or transitional life skills, we have to ensure that our students' basic needs are met. High schoolers are notoriously hungry, and when a teenager comes to class with an empty stomach, whether due to a rushed morning, long bus rides, or food insecurity at home, learning simply takes a back seat.\r\n\r\nYour donation has completely transformed our classroom dynamic in several powerful ways:\r\n\r\n-Fueling Focus and Stamina: Having a fully stocked snack pantry means my students can grab exactly what they need to stay fueled. I have already seen a noticeable increase in their ability to sustain attention during challenging tasks.\r\n\r\n-Aiding in Emotional Regulation: For many of my students, managing sensory input and emotional stress is a daily hurdle. Sometimes, a quick break with a crunchy snack is exactly the grounding tool they need to self-regulate, de-escalate, and return to their work with a clear head. A simple snack can truly turn a tough morning around.\r\n\r\n-Boosting Classroom Cheer: Beyond just satisfying hunger, your gift has brought so much joy into our room. Being able to offer a student their favorite snack builds trust, creates a welcoming environment, and makes our classroom feel like a safe home base within the larger school.\r\n\r\nYou have done more than just fill our cabinets; you have shown my students that there is a wider community out there rooting for their success and well-being. Thank you for seeing the value in what we do and for supporting these amazing kids so directly. Your kindness is nourishing them in more ways than one!","fullyFundedDate":1768765105126,"projectUrl":"project/you-cannot-teach-a-hungry-child/10033946/","projectTitle":"You Cannot Teach a Hungry Child","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Patterson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7312865_orig.jpg?crop=1007,1007,x0,y517&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1744391785516","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7312865"},{"teacherId":7578231,"projectId":9923370,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your contribution to our classroom! When I've talked to teachers in my department who have taught this in the past, they have mentioned how much students in the past have struggled with the verbosity of the original text. This graphic novel uses all quotes from the original next, but the images help to lift some of the weight of all of the details. Your contribution has provided exactly that.\r\n\r\nThe variety of items you sent will make a tangible difference in our daily routine:\r\n\r\nSnacks: Many of our students rely on these for quick energy boosts or as part of positive reinforcement during challenging tasks.\r\n\r\nLaminator: This is a \"game-changer\" for us. It allows me to create durable visual schedules, communication cards, and reusable learning activities that can withstand daily use.\r\n\r\nHeadphones & Noise-Canceling Headphones: These are vital for our students with sensory processing needs. They provide a \"quiet space\" in a busy world, helping students focus and stay calm during independent work.\r\n\r\nFidgets: These tools are essential for helping my students regulate their energy and improve their concentration during lessons.\r\n\r\nOffice Supplies: These foundational items keep our classroom organized and running smoothly, allowing us to focus entirely on the students.\r\n\r\nIt is heartening to know that there are people like you who value inclusive education and the success of students with diverse learning needs. Your contribution has made a meaningful and immediate difference in the daily experience of my students, and I am truly grateful.\r\n\r\nThe tablet you helped fund is already transforming our learning environment. Previously, whenever a student needed to use the restroom or take a regulated break, I had to stop instruction, step away from a small-group activity, or pause one-on-one support to log in and manually enter their information on my computer. These interruptions added up quickly—breaking the momentum of a lesson, increasing wait time for other students, and disrupting the focus and rhythm in a classroom where consistency is essential.\r\n\r\nNow, with the tablet accessible at the door, my students can independently enter their student ID number to sign themselves out. This small change has created a huge shift. Students gain confidence and autonomy, and I am able to maintain continuity in instruction. Our classroom feels calmer, more predictable, and more respectful of everyone's learning time. For students with disabilities—who benefit greatly from reduced distractions and steady routines—this improvement impacts not only their access to breaks, but their overall engagement and success.\r\n\r\nMy students are most excited about the independence this new tool gives them. Being able to take care of a basic need without waiting for an adult makes them feel capable and included. They love that the process is simple, accessible, and designed with their needs in mind.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have responded especially positively. One student who often hesitated to advocate for herself now comfortably enters her ID number to take a quick break before she becomes overwhelmed. Another student who thrives on structure loves the clear, predictable steps of the sign-out process. Across the room, students who typically struggle with communication or anxiety have shown more calm and confidence simply because the process is no longer attention-drawing or disruptive.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has provided more than a tablet—you've helped create a more equitable, dignified, and focused learning environment for every student in my classroom. Thank you for believing in them and for helping ensure all students have access to the tools they need to learn, grow, and thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1758810405927,"projectUrl":"project/independence-and-accessibility/9677721/","projectTitle":"Independence and Accessibility","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Adams","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9754671_orig.png?crop=288,288,x0,y36&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756920559955","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9754671"},{"teacherId":7578231,"projectId":9023233,"letterContent":"I'm so sorry for the delay on this letter; I had a baby two months early, and that has changed my usual punctuality and organization! \r\nThat being said, I want to ensure you that the books you've provided are so very appreciated!
