In order for our student-athletes to be successful and safe, they need to have good shoes. Several of our students who are an integral part of our Track & Field team do not have the resources to purchase stable training shoes or invest in event-specific shoes. Training in supportive shoes is really important to prevent injuries. Event shoes for the Triple Jump and High Jump are also important for safety and injury prevention. Triple jumpers create a lot of force from landing and taking off again in a heel to toe fashion, which when done in sprinting spikes can cause bruised heels. High jump shoes provide heel spikes so that the high jumper can safely make their J curve approach without slipping. It is for these reasons that we are hoping to purchase these shoes. These shoes will help support our athletes who are working hard to improve, but just don't have the financial means to buy quality equipment. It is special and important for our kids to be a part of team, gaining friendships and learning life skills along the way. We are hoping to help set them up for success as they pursue their goals.
