Students in my room begin each day by reading independently for 15 minutes. Research shows that reading increases vocabulary, reduces stress, builds empathy and lots of other amazing things! I want to provide my students with culturally relevant, high interest and diverse books to get them interested in and passionate about reading! I am starting with nothing as a first year teacher, and am hoping to build a great classroom library to get this year started. I will continue to search for other ways to get books donated for my classroom, but would love my community's help as well. People often say to me that they wish they could do something to improve education and our schools, and here is a tangible way to make that contribution. Reading is LIT!
