Receiving a color printer, cardstock, and printing paper has allowed me to create individualized learning materials that are engaging, colorful, and designed specifically around the needs of my 1st and 2nd grade students.\r\n\r\nAs an EC Resource Teacher, I work with students in Reading, Writing, Math, and Social-Emotional Learning. Many of my students benefit from visual supports, picture choices, adapted assignments, visual directions, vocabulary cards, graphic organizers, and hands-on activities. Having access to a color printer has allowed me to turn these ideas into materials that my students can actually see, touch, and use during instruction.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting parts for my students has been seeing their learning materials come to life in color. Instead of receiving a plain black-and-white worksheet, students can use colorful visuals, picture-supported activities, and personalized materials that make learning feel more engaging and accessible. The cardstock has also allowed me to create durable materials that we can use again and again, which is especially helpful for students who benefit from repeated practice.\r\n\r\nI have seen students become more excited and willing to participate when they recognize that a material was created specifically for them. Students enjoy choosing pictures, using colorful response materials, and working with resources that feel more like activities than traditional worksheets. These materials have helped make my Resource classroom a place where students can feel successful, supported, and excited to learn.\r\n\r\nI am incredibly grateful to the donors who made this possible. They are so deserving. They have been using the brain models, posters, and fidgets to enhance their knowledge of self. They have been identifying the parts of the brain that house emotions (Amygdala) and the decision making center of the brain ( Prefrontal cortex). Their understanding of these parts are helping them take ownership of their self regulation and ability to own their decision making. The are finding so much pride in how they are learning more about themselves, it is so encouraging. \r\n\r\nWhen they first saw the huge brain display they were wide eyed and then we started taking apart the layers and they were so engrossed in it. It has been a fantastic tool for my counseling program. They self regulation poster are hung up in my office for when students need a quick break and again something very simple and self directed. They loved that they don't need my help to get themselves back on track. They have the tools necessary for their own success.
