Because of you, all of our third graders now have their own recorders, opening the door to meaningful, hands-on music-making in our classroom. When the instruments first arrived, the excitement was immediate—students carefully opened the cases, examined the finger holes, and could hardly wait to play their first notes. For many of them, this was their very first time holding and learning a solo musical instrument.\r\n\r\nWe are already using the recorders daily as part of our music lessons. Students are learning proper breath control, hand position, and how to read simple melodies on the staff. One especially memorable moment was when the class successfully played their first full song together—students beamed with pride as they realized they were truly making music as an ensemble. The recorders have helped build confidence, focus, and teamwork, while also reinforcing important skills like reading notation and listening to others.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue expanding their recorder skills by learning new notes, exploring dynamics, and performing more challenging songs. We are working toward small group and whole-class performances that allow students to collaborate and support one another musically.
