Instead, the community service team used the funds to support our April and May Initiative, Prom Drive. \r\n\r\nWith your support we were able to purchase items to make this magical day something to remember for our wonderful 8th graders.\r\n\r\nSome of the items purchased were ties, stockings, prom dresses, prop jewelry, and more. \r\n\r\nItems were included in our Ditmas Trends store giving the 8th graders a chance to shop and design their dream prom outfit. \r\n\r\nYour donations have helped to make this milestone occasion more accessible for so many students. Our school services students from a wide array of economic backgrounds. For some, hygiene essentials can be out of reach. With your support, the school community was able to ensure these students had access to hygiene products here at school. \r\n\r\nDitmas Care Kits were given to students as a special section of our Ditmas Trends Store, a \"take what you need\" thrift shop that many students visit weekly. Having access to the Care Kits opened the door for valuable discussions around health and hygiene. The campaign helped to reduce the stigma students often struggle with when discussing hygiene. Healthy discussions around the best products and frequency of use were overheard. All the store's visitors received a care kit and an enlightened understanding of the importance of hygiene.\r\n\r\nThe Ditmas Community Service Team decided to keep some of the Ditmas Care Kits on reserve for our students with the most need. They have been identified and have access to supplies as needed. We also have extended the invitation to local organizations and our school community members to continue to support this initiative. Together, we will ensure our students have access to Ditmas Care Kits throughout the year!
