The Fairy Tales STEM Kit allows children to use these stories as a foundation for learning, helping them to think critically as they come up with solutions to challenges faced by storybook characters. Through building, testing, and revising their ideas, students strengthen early STEM skills while developing perseverance, collaboration, and confidence in their abilities.\r\nThe mud kitchen has enriched our outdoor play by providing opportunities for imaginative, sensory-rich experiences. As children mix mud, sand, and water to create \"meals,\" they engage in pretend play that supports language development, social interaction, and independence. This type of play encourages our students to practice cooperation, turn-taking, and problem-solving while also encouraging fine and gross motor skills. \r\nTogether, these materials have created meaningful learning experiences that support the whole child. Your generosity has brought so much joy and comfort to my young learners. Because of you, my students have a learning environment where they can move, choose, and thrive every day. We are so grateful for your kindness and belief in our classroom community!\r\n\r\nOur new flexible seating options—cube chairs, wobble stools, and floor cushions—have completely transformed our classroom! During whole-group instruction, students can now choose a comfortable seat that helps them stay focused and engaged. It's amazing to see how much more confident and comfortable my young learners are when they can make choices that fit their needs.\r\n\r\nThe chairs arrived just in time to start our new school year, and the timing couldn't have been better! The students were excited to see the seating options and couldn't wait to try them out. Right away, I noticed a big difference—students were more motivated to come to the carpet, and participation during group time increased. The flexible seating choices have made our learning space more inviting and engaging for everyone! \r\n\r\nWe will continue to use these items daily and explore different ways to integrate them into our daily routines. My students will continue learning to make independent seating choices, supporting their educational growth and development. This project has greatly impacted building a positive educational foundation for my students, whether we are singing, dancing, learning, or engaging in continuous play opportunities.","fullyFundedDate":1747158112494,"projectUrl":"project/a-seat-for-every-need-flexible-seating/9147630/","projectTitle":"A Seat for Every Need: Flexible Seating for Little Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jennings","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9937465"},{"teacherId":4965200,"projectId":5975050,"letterContent":"The donation of these materials had a meaningful and lasting impact on the Pre-K classroom by enriching hands-on learning experiences and supporting development across multiple domains. The children's wooden workbenches, child-sized toolboxes, and construction materials encouraged students to explore building, designing, and problem-solving through purposeful play. As children used real tools safely and appropriately, they developed fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and confidence while engaging in early STEM learning.\r\nThe Carolina Market and construction sets also enhanced dramatic play, allowing students to take on roles, collaborate with peers, and use language in meaningful ways. While working together to build structures or role-play shopping and construction scenarios, children practiced communication, cooperation, and social-emotional skills such as turn-taking and problem-solving. The concept cards and pavers further supported early math and literacy skills by introducing patterns, spatial awareness, and vocabulary.","fullyFundedDate":1646148735030,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-future-of-resilient-young-hum/5975050/","projectTitle":"Building a Future of Resilient Young Humans!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cordero","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4965200_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1637178796973","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4965200"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_83109","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":405,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":14,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":61,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"11.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":60.5,"schoolId":83109,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Rita Cannan Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Rita Cannan Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/washoe-county-school-district/rita-cannan-elementary-school/83109"}
