With these new books, my students are not only practicing essential reading skills—like fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary development—but also learning how to connect with characters, settings, and ideas that reflect both their own lives and new perspectives. Having a wide range of texts allows me to introduce lessons on making inferences, identifying themes, and developing critical thinking skills that go beyond simply \"sounding out words.\" These books have truly become tools for curiosity and discovery.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom now feels vibrant and alive. Students eagerly browse the shelves during independent reading time, often trading recommendations with one another and proudly sharing passages that made them laugh or think deeply. Small group discussions are filled with excitement, as students use their new texts to support their opinions and practice talking about books in a meaningful way. The classroom library has quickly become a central part of our daily routine, where students feel empowered to choose books that match their interests and reading levels.\r\n\r\nOne student in particular, who previously struggled to find books that held her attention, has now fallen in love with a new series from our library. She carries her book everywhere—even reading during transition times—and beams when she tells her classmates about the story. Another student, who had been hesitant to read aloud, now volunteers during group discussions because he feels confident with the new books he's been practicing. These moments highlight the joy, confidence, and sense of belonging your gift has created in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1744217506075,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-magical-library-engaging-boo/9244484/","projectTitle":"Building a Magical Library: Engaging Books for My 1st Graders!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Soukup","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6549085_orig.png?crop=295,295,x65,y27&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1744072437934","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6549085"},{"teacherId":5627067,"projectId":9021212,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting my group of students.
