As a result of learning loss during the pandemic, many students are reading below grade level. They are in need of high interest, low level nonfiction books to check out from our school library. Our students come from wonderfully diverse backgrounds, and they would surely enjoy reading and learning about countries around the world. Even though all students in the school will benefit from the new library books, third grade students will especially be targeted by this project. They will not only check out the books and read them at home, but they will also have the opportunity to create a digital project about one of their favorite countries. This project directly addresses ELA Standard RI.3.10: By the end of the year, read and comprehend informational texts, including history/social studies, science, and technical texts, at the high end of the grades 2-3 text complexity band independently and proficiently.
