Students were thrilled when they saw it, and the smell of fresh popcorn now adds excitement to our attendance celebrations. We use it to recognize classes and students for strong attendance and improvement. \r\nSo far this school year, our chronic absenteeism rate is 6% lower than it was last year! While the popcorn machine is only one piece of a much larger schoolwide effort, it has become a fun and meaningful tool that helps reinforce the importance of attendance in a positive way. We want our students to feel motivated and encouraged rather than simply reminded about what they are missing when they are absent. Celebrating attendance allows us to focus on the positive—being present, participating, learning, and being part of our school community.\r\nMoving forward, we will continue using this fun resource to celebrate progress and remind students that every day at school matters. When the students first saw the new materials, their faces lit up with excitement. The outdoor speaker quickly became a classroom favorite as students eagerly participated in music and movement activities, sang along to learning songs, and even practiced taking turns using the karaoke feature. The footballs and outdoor equipment have encouraged teamwork, cooperation, and active play while helping students develop important gross motor skills. The whiteboard table surfaces have transformed our classroom into an interactive learning space where students enthusiastically practice writing letters, drawing shapes, solving problems, and sharing ideas with their classmates.\r\n\r\nOne of our most memorable moments was introducing the insect specimens during our science exploration. The students were fascinated as they carefully observed the insects and discussed their colors, body parts, and similarities and differences. They asked thoughtful questions, made predictions, and used new vocabulary like \"antennae,\" \"thorax,\" and \"wings.\" It was wonderful to watch their natural curiosity spark meaningful conversations and scientific thinking. Our art supplies have also inspired creativity as students create detailed drawings, collaborative projects, and imaginative works of art connected to our classroom themes and lessons.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our learning journey, students will use these resources to deepen their understanding of science, literacy, and social-emotional skills. We are beginning new investigations of living things, creating class books, and using our whiteboard tables for interactive writing and collaborative learning activities. The outdoor equipment and speaker will continue to support movement-based learning, helping students stay engaged while building healthy habits. Because of your kindness, we have been able to provide our students with social-emotional books, engaging games, and essential classroom supplies such as pencils, Clorox wipes, markers, and crayons. Your contributions have made a meaningful and lasting impact on both our learning environment and our students' daily experiences.\r\n\r\nThe social-emotional books you helped us acquire have quickly become a cornerstone of our classroom routine. We use them almost daily during our social skills groups, where students gather to read, reflect, and discuss important topics such as kindness, empathy, problem-solving, and self-regulation. These stories have opened the door for meaningful conversations and have given students the language and confidence to express their thoughts and feelings in positive ways.\r\n\r\nIn addition, the games you provided have brought so much joy and growth into our classroom. Students absolutely love playing them, and while they are having fun, they are also developing essential life skills. Through these games, they are learning how to take turns, cooperate with peers, handle winning and losing appropriately, and practice patience. It has been wonderful to watch their progress as they build stronger relationships with one another and gain confidence in social situations.\r\n\r\nYour support of basic classroom supplies has also made a significant difference. Having access to items like pencils, markers, crayons, and cleaning supplies ensures that our classroom runs smoothly each day. Students are able to fully participate in lessons without worrying about lacking materials, and we are able to maintain a clean and healthy learning environment. These essentials may seem small, but they play a huge role in creating a space where students feel prepared, comfortable, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, your generosity has shown our students that there are people who care deeply about their success and well-being. That message alone is incredibly powerful. You have helped create an environment where students feel supported, valued, and excited to come to school each day.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of my students and myself, thank you for investing in our classroom and in our future. Your kindness is truly appreciated more than words can express, and the impact of your support will continue to be felt throughout the school year and beyond.","fullyFundedDate":1768333858902,"projectUrl":"project/social-emotional-learning-and-classroom/9999146/","projectTitle":"Social Emotional Learning and Classroom Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Barton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7356575"},{"teacherId":3469055,"projectId":10007702,"letterContent":"I am writing to express my gratitude for funding my grant proposal! These tools have made an incredible difference in our classroom and beyond. \r\n\r\nMany of our students are nonverbal or have limited verbal abilities, which can make it difficult for them to communicate their wants, needs, and feelings. Before having access to these materials, some students experienced frustration when they were unable to make themselves understood. Now, with visual supports and communication boards readily available, they are able to point to pictures, make choices, and actively engage in conversations. \r\n\r\nThe visual schedules have also brought a sense of structure and predictability to our students' days. Knowing what to expect helps reduce anxiety and allows them to transition more smoothly between activities. We have even been able to extend these supports into the home environment, creating consistency between school and home routines. \r\n\r\nIn addition, these resources have fostered stronger connections between our students, their teachers, and their peers. When students can communicate more effectively, they are better able to participate in group activities, interact with classmates, and build friendships. \r\n\r\nYour generosity has not only provided materials, but it has also given our students a voice.
