Receiving the Scholastic News for my class has truly been such a great gift this year. The magazine subscriptions you helped purchase will continue to make an impact over the course of the year that we have left. Scholastic News in our class will definitely continue to support students in a number of ways.\r\n\r\nThe most recent magazine issue that we dove into was all about Bullying and St. Patrick's Day. My students were certainly engaged in both topics because St. Patrick's Day is nearly here, and unfortunately, bullying is a major topic in schools nowadays. My students really love the digital component of the Scholastic News because there are videos that support the text that they read. During this particular lesson on bullying, students had an opportunity to not only read about bullying and how they can do something to prevent it, but also to view a video that dove deeper into the focus. My class had the opportunities to come up to the board and lead their classmates through the comprehension questions for the article, as well as add to conversations about various situations involving bullying, cyberbullying, and peer conflict. \r\n\r\nMy students and I really love the Scholastic News you helped purchase for our class because it enables everyone to have great discourse or conversation about the various topics presented in each magazine. Since these magazines focus mostly on science, social studies, and current events, it really is a nice change of pace from what we normally do. Beyond that, it also really helps to reinforce what we learn in our other subjects. With Scholastic News being all informational text, our class continually practices identifying and utilizing text features and visual features to help them understand the text better.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your thoughtfulness! I cannot state how much you are appreciated.","fullyFundedDate":1733894280979,"projectUrl":"project/improving-our-skills-through-science-so/8962334/","projectTitle":"Improving Our Skills Through Science, Social Studies, & Scholastic News","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Espey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9808205_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1729225198553","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9808205"},{"teacherId":9449854,"projectId":8972824,"letterContent":"My students and I appreciate your generosity and support.
