The books I have picked meet the following Nevada Academic Content Standards for Kindergarten: SS.K.10 - Share and discuss stories that illustrate honesty, courage, friendship, respect, and responsibility. SS.K.11 - Explore strategies to resolve conflicts in the classroom. I am also requesting bookshelves so that the new books will be displayed and readily available for both students and staff to access. The books I am requesting will provide a springboard for social and emotional lessons and discussions not only for my students, but also for the students attending my school. My colleagues and I will be able to develop lessons that will meet the social and emotional needs of our students that are underdeveloped due to the COVID restrictions.
