They have been an incredible addition to our lessons and have sparked so much excitement among our students.\r\n\r\nIn our library class, students learn basic coding through Code.org on their Chromebooks. Now, with the LEGO Spike Education kits, they can bring that digital learning to life. Students are able to design and build LEGO figures, create their own code, and watch their creations move and respond. It's been amazing to see their faces light up as they connect coding concepts with hands-on engineering.\r\n\r\nYour generous donation has not only enhanced our STEM learning but also encouraged creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. Your donation has done so much more than provide cheer gear—it has given our students a sense of pride, unity, and opportunity that they will carry with them well beyond the sidelines.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes first arrived, the students could hardly contain their excitement. They gathered together eagerly, whispering guesses about what was inside. The moment the uniforms and pom poms were revealed, the entire room erupted with joy. Many of the students rushed to try on their new uniforms right away, proudly admiring themselves in the mirror and cheering together with their new gear. For several of them, it was the very first time they had ever owned something that represented their school in such an official and special way. Seeing their pride as they stood together, looking like a real, unified team for the first time, was such a powerful and unforgettable moment.\r\n\r\nSince receiving these materials, our cheerleaders have already been putting them to good use. They wear their uniforms and use their pom poms at school games, assemblies, and community events to bring energy, school spirit, and pride to our entire student body. Having matching gear has given them a new level of confidence and professionalism. They no longer feel like just a small after-school group—they feel like an important part of our school's identity. This change has motivated them to work harder on their routines and to carry themselves with responsibility and discipline, knowing that they are representing not only themselves but also their classmates, teachers, and families.\r\n\r\nWhat makes this gift even more meaningful is the fact that we are a Title I school, where many families simply cannot afford the extra costs that come with extracurricular activities. For many of our students, cheerleading would not have been possible without this project. Your generosity removed that barrier, allowing every student who wanted to participate the chance to do so without worry or stress about expenses. You have given them the opportunity to experience the joy of being part of a team, the excitement of performing, and the pride of representing their school—all things that would have been out of reach otherwise.\r\n\r\nBut the benefits of your donation extend far beyond cheerleading itself. Being part of a team is teaching our students important life skills: teamwork, leadership, resilience, time management, and perseverance. They are learning to support one another, to stay disciplined in practice, and to take pride in their growth and accomplishments. These are the same qualities that will help them succeed in their academic work and later in college, careers, and life. As we look ahead, our cheerleaders are already setting new goals for themselves. They are working on perfecting routines, preparing for upcoming performances, and hoping to participate in future competitions. None of this would have been possible without your generosity, and for that, we are deeply grateful.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our cheer program and, most importantly, in our students. You have given them confidence, joy, and a lasting sense of belonging. Your kindness has made a difference in their lives that will continue to shape their futures.","fullyFundedDate":1746786490768,"projectUrl":"project/support-our-new-cheer-program-with-unifo/9094177/","projectTitle":"Support Our New Cheer Program With Uniforms and Equipment!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Miller","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7768419_orig.jpg?crop=2320,2320,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1619744682417","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7768419"},{"teacherId":3462400,"projectId":7989507,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for these supplies. For example, we recently used the Touch Read Phonics Word Match and Build-A-Word Crayon Boxes to create a fun phonics station. This hands-on activity allowed them to apply phonics skills while engaging with peers.\r\n\r\nMy students were overjoyed! When we opened the boxes, they were excited to explore the colorful Alphabet Soup Sorters and magnetic ten frames. Their smiles and gasps of delight said it all—they couldn't wait to start learning with the new materials.\r\n\r\nNext, we're using the Unifix Letter and Blend Cubes to help students build words with blends and digraphs. The plan is to incorporate these into a literacy game where students create and decode words in a timed challenge. We will also use the Lakeshore Counting Cones for an upcoming math lesson focused on sequencing and number sense. These activities will continue to build foundational skills while keeping learning interactive and enjoyable.\r\n\r\nThank you for making these meaningful learning moments possible!","fullyFundedDate":1635838652062,"projectUrl":"project/learn-explore-and-never-forget-to-have/5878017/","projectTitle":"Learn, Explore, And Never Forget To Have Fun!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Nada","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8111797_orig.png?crop=272,272,x14,y5&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1675487015037","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8111797"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_82934","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":599,"numTeachers":45,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":14,"percentWhite":6,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":68,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":57.0,"schoolId":82934,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Gene Ward Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Gene Ward Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/clark-county-school-district/gene-ward-elementary-school/82934"}
