Because of your generosity, my students now have access to engaging games that go beyond academics and help build essential social and cooperative skills. We use these materials during center time and small group activities, where students practice taking turns, following rules, communicating, and working as a team. One special moment was watching a group of students navigate a game together—encouraging each other, problem-solving, and celebrating one another's successes.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement was contagious! Students were eager to explore and immediately began interacting with one another in positive ways. Even students who are typically shy or struggle socially became more involved and confident. The games created a safe and structured environment where students could practice kindness, patience, and teamwork in a natural and meaningful way.\r\n\r\nAs we continue using these resources, students are building stronger relationships and learning how to collaborate effectively—skills that carry over into all areas of our classroom. Our next steps include integrating these games into daily routines and structured centers to continue reinforcing cooperation, communication, and self-regulation while still supporting academic growth.","fullyFundedDate":1768267394171,"projectUrl":"project/building-skills-through-play-and-practic/9987044/","projectTitle":"Building Skills Through Play and Practice","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jurgens","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4776665_orig.jpg?crop=450,450,x0,y94&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1690783688040","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4776665"},{"teacherId":3578235,"projectId":9997227,"letterContent":"My students absolutely LOVE the wobble chairs, and it has honestly been amazing to see the difference they make in the library. From the moment they were introduced, they immediately became a favorite. The students are constantly moving them from the round table in the corner over to their own desks, hoping to be the next one to use them. It has almost turned into a friendly competition at times, with everyone eager for a turn. If only I could get my hands on an entire class set at some point, haha! I truly believe every student would benefit from having one throughout the day.\r\n\r\nWhat I've noticed most is how much these chairs help students manage their energy. Many of my students have a hard time sitting still for long periods, which can make it challenging for them to stay focused during lessons. The wobble chairs give them a safe and appropriate outlet for that extra movement. Instead of fidgeting in ways that can be distracting, they are able to gently move while still staying engaged with their work.\r\n\r\nIt has been especially helpful during writing time and direct instruction. Students who typically struggle to focus are more attentive and able to complete their assignments with fewer reminders. I've seen an increase in productivity, as well as a noticeable improvement in their ability to listen and participate in discussions. The movement seems to support their learning rather than take away from it, which has been wonderful to observe.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, the wobble chairs have also contributed to a more positive classroom environment. Students are excited about using them, and that excitement carries over into their attitude toward learning. They feel more comfortable, more in control of their bodies, and more ready to participate. It's such a simple tool, but it has had a meaningful impact on both engagement and behavior.\r\n\r\nI am so grateful to have had the opportunity to bring wobble chairs into my classroom. Seeing their faces light up reminded me how much these rewards mean to a child's sense of belonging and success, instantly shifting the energy in our classroom toward a more positive, focused environment.\r\n\r\nWe are already putting these resources to great use as students earn raffle tickets for kindness, staying on task, and reaching personal reading goals. I recently watched a group of students who typically struggle with peer frustration play one of the new games with incredible patience and teamwork. This motivation is now being channeled into our upcoming end-of-year assessments, as students are setting \"Personal Best\" goals to earn special Fun Fridays.\r\n\r\nYour contribution did so much more than provide toys; it gave my students a tangible reason to stay engaged and showed them that their hard work is truly valued.
