The whiteboards have become an essential tool for engagement—students love using them to practice skills, share ideas, and participate actively in lessons.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, the social-emotional games have given my students valuable opportunities to build strong relationships, develop empathy, and learn how to manage their feelings in positive ways. The colorful paper has allowed us to create vibrant anchor charts that make our learning environment feel welcoming, engaging, and inspiring for every student who walks through the door. The laminator has been a game changer. I have been able to create hands-on games and activities that students can use again and again, making learning both interactive and sustainable. Our new whiteboards have also become an essential part of our daily instruction, supporting our students across writing, phonics, and math.\r\nYour generosity has not only provided us with valuable tools, but has helped create a classroom where students feel excited to learn every single day. They have truly transformed the dynamics of our classroom by making lessons more interactive and hands-on. Students are actively engaging in mathematical discourse and developing their problem-solving skills by learning to approach problems in multiple ways. The boards have also created opportunities for students to collaborate with various partners and utilize vertical math surfaces, which has taken their learning to a whole new level. It has shifted the focus from passive worksheet completion to active, collaborative thinking. Additionally, there's something powerful about the 'non-permanent' nature of these surface. Students are much more willing to take risks and try a difficult problem when they know they can easily wipe a mistake away with an eraser. It has replaced the fear of being wrong with the courage to try.\r\n When our students first saw the vertical work surfaces, they were thrilled! It is truly a joy to share the energy in our classroom right now. It was a powerful moment that reminded them that there is a whole community of people rooting for their success. Thanks to your incredible generosity, our learning environment has been completely transformed.\r\n Although this project was initially intended to enhance our math instruction, we are now exploring ways to incorporate it across other areas of our curriculum, specifically phonics and spelling. Adding collaboration, movement, and engagement throughout the day will help our students grow and thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1767507606680,"projectUrl":"project/the-vertical-learning-project/9855519/","projectTitle":"The Vertical Learning Project","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Drew","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1870854"},{"teacherId":9355687,"projectId":10005817,"letterContent":"The arrival of our new resources was a transformative moment for our classroom! The students' excitement was a powerful reminder of how much it means to them to have high-quality, fresh materials that are specifically dedicated to their learning. Seeing their faces light up made it clear that these aren't just supplies—they are symbols of support from the community.\r\n\r\nWe have already put the resources to work during our daily Foundational Skills block. In a recent lesson, students used the whiteboards and dry erase markers to build complex words and practice our phonics skill. I watched one student's confidence soar as he finally mastered a sound he had been struggling with while using the new dry erase word mapping board. The art supplies have also allowed us to make creative connections to our reading, helping students express their understanding of stories in ways that go far beyond a standard worksheet. While studying Lunar New Year, we created a beautiful display with a mural and directed drawings for the year of the horse with our new watercolors and paint brushes.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next steps involve an up coming art lesson that will pair with opinion writing about spring. Students will use these materials to draft, illustrate, and \"publish\" their own original opinion pieces. Rather than viewing programming as an abstract concept happening purely on a screen, students are absolutely captivated by the process of following sequential steps to see physical coding occur right in front of them. Watching a tangible device execute their exact commands brings a level of excitement and real-world connection that traditional software alone simply cannot match.\r\n\r\nBeyond just executing basic commands, our students have developed a deep love for the exploratory side of programming. They are constantly experimenting with all the different paths they can take in their code to trigger diverse and unexpected outcomes. This trial-and-error process not only builds their resilience but also encourages a highly creative approach to problem-solving. When a line of code doesn't produce the desired physical reaction, they eagerly dive back in, collaborating and tweaking their logic until their vision comes to life.\r\n\r\nPerhaps the most inspiring impact has been on our youngest learners. \"The Wonders of Coding\" has shown that you are never too young to start understanding computational thinking. These early learners are incredibly empowered by the opportunity to play and engage with hands-on coding manipulatives. Giving them tactile items to touch, move, and arrange completely changes the dynamic, allowing them to grasp complex sequencing concepts through physical play rather than just using a computer mouse or tablet. It has turned learning into an interactive adventure that builds their confidence from day one.","fullyFundedDate":1768673515722,"projectUrl":"project/the-wonders-of-coding/9996849/","projectTitle":"The Wonders of Coding","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Fisher","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4968426_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1527283836307","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4968426"},{"teacherId":7799381,"projectId":9988209,"letterContent":"A huge thank you for helping fund our project: Classroom Library Glow Up! The room shifted from a standard workspace to a cozy, inviting \"Thinking Lab\" where students felt immediately at ease and ready to dive into some serious number-crunching.\r\n\r\nThe impact of the whiteboards and markers was instantaneous. Just yesterday, I watched a group of fourth graders tackle a multi-step word problem on one of the large whiteboards. When the boxes arrived, the energy in our room was electric. My students were so excited as we unpacked the Crayola Color Sticks, the vibrant watercolors, and the Kwik Stix tempera paint. There is something truly special about a child seeing a brand new set of high quality art supplies and realizing that someone they don't even know cared enough to provide them. Their favorite discovery was easily the Rainbow Scratch Paper. They were thrilled to \"reveal\" the colors beneath the surface during our class compliment party.\r\nWe have already put these materials to use in a very meaningful way. We used the Kwik Stix, watercolors, and Sharpies to create self portraits. Because you provided the Global Skin Tone set, every single one of my students was able to find a color that accurately represented them, building a wonderful sense of pride and inclusion in our classroom. The Kwik Stix are a total game changer for us. They allow the kids to get that rich, painterly texture without the long drying time, allowing us to move seamlessly from art projects back into our academic block.\r\nMoving forward, these supplies will be the backbone of our upcoming \"Storytelling through Art\" unit. We plan to use the Royal Brush sets and watercolors to illustrate original narratives the students are writing.
