My second graders were absolutely thrilled when the packages arrived; their faces lit up seeing the \"rainbow\" of erasers, and there was an immediate buzz of excitement to test out the new tools. These resources have brought a fresh sense of organization and confidence to our daily work. For example, during our recent writing block, I noticed several students who usually struggle with handwriting stamina using the JuneLsy grips to steady their hands. One student looked up with a proud smile and told me, \"Look, I can write my whole sentence without my hand getting tired now!\" It was a small but powerful moment that showed exactly how much your support impacts their day-to-day learning.\r\n\r\nThe Resource Folders have also become an essential \"command center\" for my students, helping them navigate our second-grade curriculum with much more independence. Currently, we are using the magnetic erasers and folders as we dive into a project on Earth systems and erosion. My students are using the whiteboard erasers to quickly draft and revise their observations during hands-on science experiments, and they are keeping their data organized within their new folders. Our next step is to use the writing supports you provided to help students draft a formal summary of how water changes landforms. Your contribution has given my students the tools they need to feel like real scientists and authors, and we are so grateful for your investment in our classroom community!","fullyFundedDate":1768181642265,"projectUrl":"project/ready-set-resource/10006258/","projectTitle":"Ready, Set, Resource!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kauth","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9347707_orig.jpg?crop=990,990,x0,y531&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1698961781022","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9347707"},{"teacherId":6505623,"projectId":10019861,"letterContent":"These tools are being used to create a multimodal math and technology station. Specifically, students use the regrouping boards and whiteboard magnetic grids to physically \"carry\" numbers during addition and subtraction lessons, providing a tactile way to understand place value. In a recent \"Probability and Precision\" project, students used the 20-sided dice to generate complex numbers for equations, which they then solved on their magnetic grids. Meanwhile, the headphones with mics and mouse allowed students to transition into digital and reading math programs, where they at times recorded themselves explaining their problem-solving steps.\r\n\r\nThe initial reaction was one of pure excitement and curiosity. When the students first saw the 20-sided dice, there was an immediate \"wow\" factor—they are far more engaging than standard 6-sided dice and made math feel like a game. The headphones were also a major hit; students felt a sense of ownership and \"professionalism\" having their own equipment to use while engaging with educational software. It turned a standard lesson into a high-energy event.\r\n\r\nThe next phase for the students involves increasing autonomy and complexity:\r\nMath Fluency: Students will use the magnetic grids to map out area and perimeter, moving beyond simple arithmetic to geometry.\r\nDigital Portfolios: Using the headphones with mics, students will begin recording \"Tutorial Videos\" where they teach a peer how to use the regrouping boards.\r\nData Analysis: The 20-sided dice will be used to collect larger data sets for a unit on graphing and statistics, allowing students to click through their data entries efficiently using their new mice.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for giving my students the opportunity to \"Level Up in 3rd Grade\"!","fullyFundedDate":1768691835838,"projectUrl":"project/leveling-up-in-the-land-of-third/10019861/","projectTitle":"Leveling Up in the Land of Third","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lather","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6505623"},{"teacherId":9364802,"projectId":10009448,"letterContent":"A loud cheer went out in our classroom when the students saw the wonderful materials for the first time. The students work in small groups to learn about the world around them.\r\n\r\nStudents are excited about the maps of the different countries and learn to use them for research projects. Since this was a Winter Olympics year, all of the materials were used for a multi-faceted project. The students researched the history of the Winter Olympics, the mascots, Olympic Rings, lighting and extinguishing the torch, countries, sports, athletes, marketing, preparation, and they charted the results.\r\n\r\nWe are still working on the final phase of the project. Students use the glue sticks daily to create interactive notebook pages, anchor charts, and hands-on projects that help them organize their thinking and make connections across subjects. Flexible seating has been a game-changer! Students are choosing spots that help them focus best, whether that's a comfy spot next to a partner or a cozy corner for independent reading and writing. We've also incorporated slime as a fun sensory tool during brain breaks and as a reward for meeting goals, helping students reset and come back ready to learn.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement was contagious! Students couldn't wait to try out the new seating options and were especially thrilled about the slime. It immediately created a positive buzz in the classroom, and even my more reserved students were eager to participate and engage. Seeing their faces light up reminded me just how impactful your support truly is, not just for learning, but for building a classroom environment where students feel happy, comfortable, and motivated.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue using these resources to deepen their learning through collaborative projects, creative assignments, and goal-setting activities. We are currently working on projects that allow students to demonstrate their understanding in hands-on ways, and these materials make that possible. I did not tell the students that roll-up keyboards were about to be a part of our music classroom. The day the keyboards arrived, I left the boxes sitting in front of the classroom, and all the students were curious as to what was in them. I told the students that we received a donation of roll-up keyboards and they all enthusiastically asked if they could play them. We were working on reading short melodies, so we decided to learn how to play the melodies on our new instruments. Soon, I was asked by the students if it was okay to make their own melodies. And just like that, off went my young student composers! All the students were excited to share the melodies that they created, and they also started to recognize familiar melodies from other songs as they experimented. \r\n\r\nThis creative spark was ignited thanks to your generous donation.
