Our school district is located in Central California, also known as "The Salad Bowl." Many of the parents work long hours in the fields harvesting and in the warehouses packing the food for distribution. Our students come to school early and leave late. They come from low-income families, with some living in poverty and some who are homeless. More than 80% of our school population receives free or reduced lunch. I believe all children, no matter their social status, should be given rich experiences to enhance their learning. With DonorsChoose.org, I hope to incorporate as many unique experiences as I can with my students so they can be successful lifelong learners in our society.
