In music class students work on developing rhythm reading skills, steady beat, playing melodies and harmonies, and build teamwork skills by working together as a music ensemble. Playing instruments is a fun, engaging activity to achieve these content standards. Students have not been able to play instruments for over a year due to distance learning, and are eager to begin to catch up on all the skills that they missed out on while learning at home. These additional instruments will ensure a safe and healthy in-person learning environment conducive to student academic development. Also, since instrument playing involves teamwork, while learning valuable music skills, students will develop socially and emotionally as well. Finally, we can use the instruments for performances for outside family events in order to help promote positivity within our family and community.
