Even though they're in high school, they've really embraced the experience in a way that's been both surprising and rewarding to watch. One moment that stood out to me was seeing some of my quieter students completely come out of their shells while playing. I heard laughter, encouragement, and a little friendly competition, but most importantly, I heard voices from students I don't always hear during academic time. It's helped me build a stronger rapport with them, and they're building stronger connections with each other too.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the games, their reactions were priceless. At first, a few of them acted a little too \"cool\" for it, but that didn't last long. As soon as they started playing, the energy shifted. Suddenly they were laughing, strategizing, and fully engaged. It was a reminder that even as high schoolers, they still need and deserve moments to just have fun and be kids. These games gave them a chance to step away from the stress of school, even if just for a little while.\r\n\r\nThese moments have felt really genuine and important in our classroom. I've been able to connect with my students in a different way, and they've had opportunities to be seen and heard beyond academics. Thank you for helping create those experiences for them. It truly means a lot.","fullyFundedDate":1769966530637,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-the-whole-child-everyday/10070978/","projectTitle":"Supporting the Whole Child Everyday","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Gump","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10422641"},{"teacherId":10317955,"projectId":10109564,"letterContent":"I am so, so grateful for your impact on my classroom. Students have been asking daily to bring out Uno, Connect Four, Jenga, and the like, and I've found myself having to deal with students getting out their phones at the end of class periods less and less since then.\r\n\r\nI remember first when they first arrived; I received a delivery during one of my class periods, and when I explained to my students that the boxes had board games for us inside, they originally didn't believe me, so imagine their shock and joy when I opened the packages in front of them, with board game upon board game inside. It has made for a lovely connection point for my students, regardless of where they come from in the world, and it has been an absolute joy seeing my students teach one another how to play. We here in the states take these games for granted, so when I saw one of my ENL students ask what Connect Four, Monopoly, or Uno was, I felt myself finding the joy of playing all over again.\r\n\r\nThank you for your generosity, and for giving these underprivileged students the ability to be kids, like we know they are deep down.","fullyFundedDate":1768489085206,"projectUrl":"project/board-games-to-break-bad-cellphone-habit/10013271/","projectTitle":"Board Games to Break Bad Cellphone Habits!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Stevenson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9275606_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1767818659984","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9275606"},{"teacherId":3802882,"projectId":9976052,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting my project to provide chargers to my students while we continue our learning! Your gift has had a profound impact on our students' learning and engagement, opening doors to both imagination and academic growth.\r\n\r\nWith these books, students were able to dive into the world of literature in new and exciting ways. They learned essential literary terms such as conflict, protagonist, and antagonist, and applied these concepts directly to the story they were reading. The action and adventure genre provided a thrilling backdrop for them to explore narrative structure, character development, and thematic depth while also sparking their curiosity and enthusiasm.\r\n\r\nOur class discussions about the graphic novel helped students develop both reading comprehension and speaking skills. After reading, students analyzed the story in depth and applied their insights through creative projects. I also expanded their final project guidelines to include not only comic books, but they also had the option to develop informational guides, maps related to the story, and even to write letters to characters, encouraging imagination and connection.\r\n\r\nThe engagement was remarkable. Students excelled in their learning, moving beyond simple comprehension into true analysis. They discovered how to interpret and evaluate literature--skills that will serve them well in every academic pursuit.\r\n\r\nYour donation was more than a gift of books—it invested in our students' imagination, language skills, and confidence. By providing these graphic novels, you sparked a lifelong love for stories in our students, empowering them to see themselves as readers, thinkers, and creators.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in the power of literature and for helping our students grow in ways that will last a lifetime.","fullyFundedDate":1755800900712,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-build-a-creative-classroom-graph/9622324/","projectTitle":"Help Us Build a Creative Classroom Graphic Novel Library!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Burlock","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10188359_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x510,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755564677528","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10188359"},{"teacherId":6487341,"projectId":9500364,"letterContent":"My students and I are so thankful for your support!
