Teaching math looks a little different this year as I am simultaneously teaching a physical classroom of students and a virtual class of students. In order for ALL of my students to have the same visual throughout our math lessons, I am utilizing the sharing capabilities of the iPad. My students have been extremely patient as I go through notes and practice problems while writing with my finger on the touchscreen. Although we have some good laughs when my numbers sometimes look like letters, or my graphs look a little "off," I would love for things to be as clear as possible with extreme detail to prevent confusion. With the Apple Pencil, I believe both students at home and in the classroom will benefit from the improved clarity. Visuals are a key part of the Geometry and Pre-Calculus curriculum that I teach, so it is important that they can be seen and understood by all students. The best part about this proposal is that it was a student who suggested I get a stylus. It is fun when young minds come up with creative solutions to problems that they encounter throughout the day. At the end of the day, it is my goal that they become problem-solvers.
