Your contributions have made a real difference for my 10th and 12th grade ELA students by helping us create a classroom that is organized, well-supplied, and ready for learning every day.\r\n\r\nBecause of your donations, we now have essential supplies like tissues, paper towels, and disinfecting sprays and wipes. These have been incredibly important, especially with many students dealing with colds and the flu. Having these items readily available helps us maintain a cleaner, healthier space where students can stay focused and comfortable.\r\n\r\nThe organizational tools you provided such as desk organizers, bookends, and classroom bins have transformed how our classroom functions. Students can now easily locate supplies like headphones, pencils, highlighters, and paper without disruption. This has helped create a smoother flow during lessons and has encouraged students to take responsibility for keeping our space neat and organized.\r\n\r\nThe headphones have been especially valuable for independent work, allowing students to focus during reading, writing, and online activities. Materials like chart paper, colored paper, and pens have also supported our daily instruction and creative projects, giving students more ways to express their thinking and engage with the content.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our classroom is not only more organized but also better equipped to meet the everyday needs of students. Moving forward, we will continue building strong routines and making the most of these resources to support both academic success and student well-being.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity and for helping us stay ready to learn and ready to achieve.","fullyFundedDate":1771596287247,"projectUrl":"project/ready-to-learn-ready-to-achieve/10104912/","projectTitle":"Ready to Learn, Ready to Achieve","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Joana","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10087606_orig.png?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753251521362","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10087606"},{"teacherId":10087606,"projectId":9792518,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our project, *The Graphic Novelists' Storyboard Kit*. Because of you, my 10th and 12th grade ELA students have been able to experience literature in a more creative, engaging, and meaningful way.\r\n\r\nWe have been using the materials to create storyboard adaptations of key scenes from the texts we read in class. Students map out plot, dialogue, and character perspectives through illustrations, which has helped them better understand and connect with the material. One of my favorite moments was seeing students who are usually hesitant about traditional writing assignments become fully engaged as they brought their ideas to life through art.\r\n\r\nWhenever new boxes of supplies arrive, there is an immediate sense of excitement in the room. My students were thrilled when they first saw the materials—they couldn't wait to start using them. That enthusiasm has carried into their daily work.\r\n\r\nThe binders you provided have made a big difference in keeping student work organized. Their notes, drafts, and final projects are now easier to manage and revisit. The arts and crafts materials are used often during illustration activities, and tools like bookmarks and highlighters have supported students as they read closely and annotate texts, strengthening both their reading and writing skills.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue developing their storyboard projects into more polished graphic narratives and will begin connecting their visual storytelling to analytical writing. When it first arrived, the children's faces lit up with excitement. They immediately gathered around it, asking if they could sit and read. That very day, a few students curled up with their books and stayed engaged far longer than usual. The soft seating has created a calm reading corner where children naturally gravitate during independent reading time, building stamina and truly enjoying their books.\r\n\r\nSoft, inviting furniture like this supports their learning in powerful ways. Students are more focused, more comfortable, and more willing to spend extended time with a book in their hands. I've noticed richer partner conversations as they sit together on the couch, retelling stories and pointing out favorite parts. It has also become a special spot for small-group instruction, where students feel supported and confident as they practice new skills.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we will continue using this cozy space to strengthen reading habits and deepen comprehension. Our next steps include encouraging students to respond to their reading through simple written reflections and sharing circles held right on the couch. This comfortable gathering place is helping us create meaningful reading experiences and nurture a genuine love of books. The sensory fidgets, squishy toys, and calming tools are being used both during recess and in the classroom to help students regulate their bodies and emotions. One special moment was watching a student who often struggles with frustration use a breathing maze board and a sensory ring to calm down instead of escalating into a conflict. That kind of self-regulation is exactly what we were hoping to support. The emotion bingo game has also been a great tool during counseling groups, helping students talk about feelings in a fun and safe way while building social skills.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were incredibly excited. The roll-up drum set especially caught their attention — they immediately wanted to try it and take turns. Many students were smiling and saying things like, \"This is so cool!\" and \"Can we play with these today?\" The fidgets were also very popular, and students quickly began sharing and trading appropriately, which created positive peer interactions right away.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue integrating these tools into both recess and classroom regulation routines. We are using the dry erase boards for problem-solving activities and reflection, and the sensory tools as part of calm-down strategies so students can return to learning more quickly. The goal is to help students recognize how movement, music, and sensory supports can help them focus, manage emotions, and succeed academically. Because of these resources, students are spending more time learning and less time in conflict, which is a meaningful change for our school community.\r\n\r\nWe are truly grateful for the generosity that made this possible.","fullyFundedDate":1759506816243,"projectUrl":"project/equality-tools-to-help-students-feel-inc/9778123/","projectTitle":"Equality Tools to Help Students Feel Inclusion in Their classroom.","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Menze","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8824233_orig.jpg?crop=1222,1222,x0,y8&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1771458976349","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8824233"},{"teacherId":10251264,"projectId":9703158,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for helping our classroom! We started with simple spindle turning. A little project which they like is turning a mallet. Then we follow this up with turning a snowman (picture included). On their own they don't look like much but glued together, we now have a bowl blank and the nicest thing is those blocks are oak, which is a nice wood to turn. However oak is a hard wood so the chisels get dull quite fast. If you have ever tried to cut a tomato with a dull knife you will know how it feels to turn a piece of wood with a dull chisel. Not fun, and not safe.\r\nThis is where the donor game in. I bought a tool sharpening system. (see picture). Now the students can turn their projects safely and successfully.
