Because of your generosity, our students now have a welcoming corner where they can sit comfortably, pick up a book, and truly enjoy reading. The new books have opened the door to powerful conversations and important skills. As we read together, students practice understanding characters' motivations, discussing different perspectives, and making connections between stories and their own lives. Books like Esperanza Rising and They Called Us Enemy also give us the chance to talk about resilience, fairness, and history in ways that help students think more deeply about the world around them.\r\n\r\nReading time in our classroom is an active and joyful part of the day. Sometimes students curl up in the nook with a book of their choice, while other times we read together and pause to share ideas, predictions, and questions. The space has made reading feel like a special activity rather than just another assignment. The materials we received also help us work together. Students use our small-group tools to brainstorm ideas, respond to stories, and collaborate on projects that grow their confidence as readers and thinkers.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who were once hesitant about reading have been especially excited about the new books. High-interest series and graphic novels have helped hook reluctant readers, and it's been wonderful to see them recommending books to their classmates or asking for extra time to read.
