Manipulatives will increase student interest and engagement. Students work best when they are having fun. I've chosen a lot of items like Alphabet Sound Tubs and Flip Books that my students are interested in and to get them excited. Students with disabilities sometimes need a little extra help and encouragement. My students thrive on manipulatives and extra visual supports. I often have to make my own visuals and/or manipulatives, but having the actual items are always the best! Having these supplies and extra supports are going to get my students on the right path and trajectory to perform at the level of their peers in academics, socialization, and behavior.
