Students get visibly excited when the whiteboards come out, and they immediately become more engaged in the lesson. We mainly use them for math and Japanese learning, where students can quickly write, draw, and show their thinking. Because the work is not permanent, students feel more comfortable taking risks and participating without fear of making mistakes.\r\n\r\nWhiteboards create a safe space for learning because students can erase and fix their work right away. This helps reduce anxiety and builds confidence, especially for students who may hesitate to answer aloud. Students are more willing to share their answers by holding up their boards, which allows me to quickly check understanding and give immediate feedback.\r\n\r\nIn math, we use whiteboards almost daily to assess student understanding. For example, students each chose a three-digit number and then worked together to line up as a \"human number line\" to compare their numbers. This hands-on activity helped students clearly see how three-digit numbers are ordered and made the learning both meaningful and fun. The students have a carpet spot on a letter on the ABC carpet during lessons to help them focus. Having a comfortable and defined space has made a huge difference in helping students focus, share their ideas, and build stronger connections with one another. It's amazing to see how this simple change has encouraged even my shyest students to participate and feel included.\r\n\r\nThe Cricut machine has been another wonderful addition to our classroom. We are still figuring out how to use it in different ways, but there are so many possibilities. We've been using it to create special stickers for our positive behavior system. \r\n\r\nOur next step is to use the Cricut to create Kindness Cards. They learned about being bucket fillers in class the first quarter and how they can fill others buckets by being kind. Each student will make a card for another classmate recognizing something they did to fill a bucket.
