With the tools and materials you provided, our students have been able to get their hands in the soil, plant seeds, and successfully grow their own plants. What started as a simple idea has turned into a meaningful, hands-on learning experience that they look forward to every week.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the gardening materials, their excitement was immediate and contagious. Many of them had never had the opportunity to garden before, and watching their curiosity turn into confidence has been incredible. Our students in the ASD classes, in particular, have thrived in this environment—finding joy, calm, and a sense of accomplishment as they care for their plants. Through this experience, students have not only learned about plant life cycles and sustainability, but also important life skills like patience, teamwork, and responsibility. Seeing them work together, support one another, and celebrate their growth has been one of the most rewarding moments for all of us.\r\n\r\nAs we continue this journey, our next steps include expanding our garden space and incorporating more lessons around recycling and environmental responsibility. Students are excited to take what they've learned and continue building something that gives back not only to them, but to our entire school community. Your support has planted more than just seeds in the ground—you've helped plant confidence, collaboration, and a love for learning in our students.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible.","fullyFundedDate":1757517867622,"projectUrl":"project/growing-green-leaders-growing-and-recyc/9608312/","projectTitle":"Growing Green Leaders, Growing and Recycling for Change","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chao","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2622847_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755309220612","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2622847"},{"teacherId":5935753,"projectId":9616285,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of my Algebra 1 and Geometry classes. Students were able to experience science in a hands-on, unforgettable way—especially during our recent UV‑light crime scene investigation lab.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, the students were immediately curious. The moment I brought out the UV lights, the entire class lit up with excitement. We transformed our classroom into a mock forensic lab for our \"Glow Germ Crime Scene Investigation.\" At first, everything looked completely normal. But when the students switched on their UV lights, they were amazed to see glowing fingerprints, trails, and smudges appear all over the room.\r\nStudents worked in detective teams, using the UV lights to:\r\n\r\nTrack how contamination spread\r\nCompare fluorescent handprints\r\nIdentify patterns in the evidence\r\nDetermine which \"suspect\" contaminated the lab table\r\n\r\nThey were amazed at the real forensic experience. Another student became one of the most focused investigators, following glowing trails across desks with so much confidence and excitement.\r\n\r\nThe contribution didn't just give us tools—it created an authentic scientific experience. Students practiced real inquiry skills: analyzing evidence, collaborating with peers, forming hypotheses, and defending their conclusions. Many told me afterward that it was one of the coolest science activities they've ever done.\r\n\r\nThe resources provided will continue to be used in future labs, investigations, and hands-on lessons throughout the year. The activity helped make science come alive for students, and the impact will last far beyond this one activity.\r\n\r\nThank you again for giving our students an opportunity that truly inspired them.
